On Thursday 1st June 2000 I went to see two Blues Giants of the sixties who were playing at Cheltenham's Town Hall.
First on stage, introduced by JOHN MAYALL, was PETER GREEN with his latest Splinter Group line-up (Nigel Watson, Pete Stroud, Roger Cotton, Larry Tolfree). Although the line-up had changed quite a bit (also less famous) from 1997 I actually preferred this performance as I could hear the vocals of PETER GREEN. The band performed tracks from the new album, however the best tune of the night was an instrumental version of "Man Of The World".
After the break, introduced by PETER GREEN, the latest line-up of The Bluebreakers (Buddy Whittington, Greg Rzab, Joe Yuele) came on stage with JOHN MAYALL. Although I found some of the tracks rather long (some in fact, nearly sent me to sleep), I still enjoyed the performance especially the guitar playing of Buddy Whittington.
